How to treat tinnitus with cervical osteochondrosis?

25.07.2021

Alas, in practice, the range of reasons for this state of affairs is much wider: even cervical osteochondrosis can be manifested by severity and the occurrence of extraneous sounds in the ears. The most popular symptom is ringing in the ears with cervical osteochondrosis, which significantly impairs the quality of life of the patient, interferes with him at work and during rest.

In order to get rid of tinnitus, with cervical osteochondrosis, it is necessary to carry out qualified treatment. It is also important to make sure that the cause of this phenomenon lies precisely in the dystrophic violation of the structure of the articular cartilage of the neck, and is not the result of any individual ear diseases.

It would seem that the neck is not related to the ears, but when studying the anatomy of the human body, it becomes clear that there is still a relationship between the hearing organs and the cervical region. The fact is that with cervical osteochondrosis in the area of \u200b\u200bthe inner and middle ear, as well as the brain, blood supply is disturbed.

This leads to a degenerative violation of the structure of the cervical vertebrae. As a result, the cells of the brain and hearing aid experience oxygen starvation, leading to a malfunction of these organs.

As already noted, osteochondrosis and ear problems can really be connected. Since the structure of the articular cartilage of the cervical spine is disturbed, the sympathetic nerve, veins and vessels passing through the lumens of the cervical spine are under pressure.

As a result - disruption of the vestibular apparatus and the inner ear, because it is these blood vessels that supply these organs with oxygen-rich blood and other important substances.

In addition, under pressure, these vessels and veins narrow, which affects not only the quality of blood supplied to the vestibular apparatus and the inner ear, but also its quantity - the organs experience starvation, venous congestion is observed.

Important! All this, alas, in combination is fraught with a disruption in the functioning of nerve cells: they can “pass through” some brain signals, against which background real signals are replaced by imitation.

In other words, in the absence of brain signals, the nerve cells responsible for hearing generate their own signals, which the patient feels in the form of noise, hum, whistle or crackle - continuous phantom noise.

It is also known that noise in the ear with osteochondrosis of the cervical region may be accompanied by other symptoms, sometimes accompanied by:

  • pain in the temples, neck, neck;
  • increased irritability;
  • sleep disturbance;
  • dizziness;
  • destructive changes in blood pressure;
  • violation of the functions of vision (the appearance of "midges", "stars", "shroud");
  • deterioration of memory functions.

With a diagnosis confirmed by a doctor and the presence of the above symptoms, the patient should begin treatment as soon as possible, since only a successful fight against the cause of the deterioration in the quality of life - osteochondrosis - will help eliminate unpleasant noises and visual effects.

Treatment of the disease

In fact, the entire treatment process comes down to helping the blood vessels and nerve endings to bear the pressure of the osteochondrosis cervical vertebrae as much as possible.

The procedures shown to almost all patients include:

  • physiotherapy procedures;
  • massages;
  • therapeutic physical culture (LFK);
  • reflexology;
  • manual therapy;
  • traction (traction) of the spine.

This set of measures is able to completely rid the patient of the disease, however, self-treatment in this case cannot include any medication methods, since there is a chance to aggravate your situation.

Medical therapy

Treatment of this disease with medicines is reduced to four groups of pharmaceuticals.

Medications are used, usually in acute forms of the disease when the patient experiences severe pain and cannot function normally without medical intervention.

The doctor may prescribe:

  1. Drugs aimed at enriching the blood, improving its properties. As a rule, they perform the function of thinning the blood, preventing situations in which the formation of clots and blood clots is possible.
  2. Painkillers. Since not only the neck, but also the head can hurt with this ailment, these drugs have a wide spectrum of action and alleviate the patient's condition as a whole.
  3. Drugs that normalize blood pressure. This group of medicines is designed to facilitate the work of blood vessels. Thanks to the normalization of blood pressure, phantom tinnitus can also disappear, as this helps to restore the functions of the brain and inner ear.
  4. Diuretics, through which the rapid removal of stagnant fluid in the body is carried out. With osteochondrosis, due to a deterioration in the outflow of fluid, cerebral edema may occur, which is a consequence of intracranial hypertension. With the help of diuretics, this fluid is excreted naturally, and the functions of the brain and inner ear are restored.
  5. Restoring metabolic processes in the body and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed when there are "gaps" in these areas.

For the effectiveness of treatment, medications can be used both in the form of tablets and topical preparations, and in the form of intramuscular or intravenous injections.

The doctor adjusts the duration of treatment and the set of drugs in accordance with the individual characteristics of the disease in each patient.

home exercises

Exercise therapy exercises for patients, in particular, are also indicated for use at home.

However, to normalize the work of nerve cells and blood vessels, the help of doctors will be required, but exercises for tinnitus and head noise with osteochondrosis can be implemented independently:

  1. short term to overcome crackling, noise or whistling in the ears with osteochondrosis, an attempt to blow out air through the nostrils closed with the index finger and thumb will help. This exercise can be done daily.
  2. Often used "air drawing"- the patient clamps a pencil or pen with his lips, with which he tries to “draw” letters, numbers and various figures in the air. This exercise activates the neck muscles, improves blood flow to the inner ear and brain, which can also alleviate hearing loss.
  3. neck massage(collar zone) with fingers. Every day you can walk your fingers in the direction from the shoulders to the back of the head. Such a massage strengthens and relaxes the neck muscles, restores the functioning of the intervertebral joints and affects the extensibility of the ligamentous apparatus.
  4. Bowing the head to the shoulders. It is necessary (5 times with each ear a day) to try to reach your shoulders with your ears, slowly tilting your head.
  5. Circular head movements- the patient should lower the head as low as possible so that the chin is as close to the chest as possible. From this position, you need to start rotating your head first clockwise (several turns), and then counterclockwise.
  6. You can help yourself turning the head to the right and to the left- with unhurried movements (preferably in front of a mirror), you need to turn your head in different directions so as to “meet” your reflection.
  7. Massage massage of the neck also speeds up the healing process - you can massage the cervical region with circular movements.

Important! With an exacerbation of the disease, these exercises are best performed in a sitting position on the floor, so as not to lose balance and not fall.

The good news is that you can’t harm yourself with such exercises (provided that injury is avoided) - for the prevention of osteochondrosis, such gymnastics is indicated throughout life. Also, effectiveness is demonstrated for strengthening the cervical region and active sports - swimming, tennis.

Thus, it is possible to deal with intrusive phantom sounds in the ears, but, unfortunately, it is rarely possible to completely get rid of them until the degenerative disease of the cervical vertebrae is cured.

In cases where the disease has been cured by medication or surgery, phantom sounds and other unpleasant symptoms (headaches, sleep disturbance, dizziness) also disappear.

Treatment should not be delayed, because with a long absence of therapy, irreparable changes in the circulatory system and the functioning of nerve cells may occur.
